Making sure that everyone has the same chance to succeed by getting what they need to do so, by eliminating barriers that some might have, by treating each one equally.
BREAKOUT ROOM
Problem 1: Assessments and rubrics are the same for all the students except for the students in the inclusion program, however there are students with different learning profiles who participate in the co-teaching program or not and they are still being evaluated as their peers, which falls in the equal definition applied to the process assuming that they all would be able to respond to the methodology and show their growth.
To address this I would choose equity applied to the process by being able to plan before the test even if it is a program that is already structured how can I modify it for the students that might need a visual prompt additional to the auditory or vice versa, that might need to have the test break it into smaller parts, translation of the instruction, etc.
Problem 2: In the school IEP´s are designed for students with learning difficulties however they are not being shared with the teachers of other areas and sometimes it is shared with the homeroom teacher later in the year therefore if not all the teachers have access to this document differentiation will hardly happen on the different classes and the learning process will be impacted.
To address this problem I would choose equity applied to the process and also to the outcome, this is because if all the teachers that are involve in the learning process of a student know his/her learning style, challenges, how are they being address and what are those strategies that best fit the student it would provide a learning environment that is consistent and that will accommodate to the student.
ENDURING UNDERSTANDING
This is a new concept to me but according to what we learned in the class about it I think the current EU of my handwriting class with Kindergarten is: ¨Strengthen the abilities children need to efficiently participate in handwriting activities¨.
I would modify it to: In this unit students will consistently demonstrate mastery of letter formation, alignment, and size when doing writing exercises and using three lined paper, and visual support if needed.
For the students I would put it this way: I will write letters in the lines and place them according to the size at the top or middle line while doing writing exercises.
I change it because it includes the lasting value when applying it in other contexts. Before it was too broad and did not show the differentiation which is key for learning.
JOURNAL REFLECTION

REFLECTION: The concept of marginalization is something that I have recently come to understand, and it has made me reflect on how I might have marginalized others unintentionally. For example, by not providing Spanish speakers with the necessary visual cues to understand a class taught in English.
It is a significant issue in society when certain groups of people are denied access to the same opportunities due to factors such as gender, cultural background, race, nationality, and so on. As a society, we should strive for equity for all individuals and provide them with equal access to opportunities.
Unfortunately, this problem is prevalent in education worldwide. Although schools are becoming more aware of the issue and trying to address it, it still persists in schools that serve poor communities.
Often, this is due to a lack of training for the staff, limited resources allocated by the government, inadequate access for children with disabilities, or insufficient infrastructure to provide equal opportunities to all students. Even children who live in remote areas and have to travel a great distance to attend school are affected by this issue.
Therefore, it is crucial to keep the discussion open and encourage schools to not only think about their institution but also to help their community by identifying cases of marginalization and providing assistance to reduce or minimize its effects.
DAILY ACTION: I want to be mindful when doing a class how each student understand or uses different senses to process information, this will allow me to add more strategies to get them all engage and give them the opportunity to learn. Even though I am an Occupational Therapist and my experience has been mostly in sensory Integration I feel that when being in the group I have a hard time being aware of each student and fall into doing a general class without differentiation.
